On June 9, 2020 (International Archives Day), the Tellogleio Foundation launched new digital access gateways to its Collections. The public and researchers can now virtually explore and use the user-friendly search and display platform for data from the Foundation’s three major repositories and its library. These hold richly documented and valuable cultural content in the fields of Art History, Culture, and Music.

Art collection

The Collection of the Tellogleio Foundation is of historical significance, as it includes key milestones in the development of modern Greek art in particular. Its size, quality, and the comprehensive chronological representation of artists make it one of the most important collections in Greece. At its core is the collection of Nestor and Aliki Telloglou, which has been enriched with later and more recent donations.

Art & History Archives

The Archives of History and Art bring together materials related to Art History, Literature, Modern Greek History, and Culture, through the collections donated by its benefactors. The most extensive of these is the archive of Tonis P. Spiteris — a thinker, art historian, and the most prominent art critic in Greece during the second half of the 20th century. A meticulous collector, he gathered a vast array of material covering nearly the entirety of global art, which he donated to the Tellogleio Foundation in 1984. With over 84,000 physical items, the Tonis P. Spiteris Archive…

Library

The library is an integral part of the Foundation, housing nearly 22,000 titles. At its core is the invaluable donation from art critic Tonis P. Spiteris and his wife, the sculptor Ioanna Veropoulou-Spiteri — a significant resource for academic research focused on modern Greek and European art. The library also includes a large number of books from Aliki Telloglou, as well as the important archive and library of Georgios Mourelos (donated by Ioannis Mourelos).
