John the Evangelist is depicted facing right. He is sitting on a stool and writing with a pen. His feet step on a footstool. A lectern is depicted in front of him. At the evangelist’s feet is depicted his symbol, an eagle with a halo. On the left, behind his back is the monogram of IO.
