Description
The artist depicts in this engraving a naked female figure in a sitting position, slightly inclined to the left (towards the viewer). Part of her right upper limb (in the form) rests on her right thigh, while her left limb rests on the back of a chair, causing the arm to hang downwards. Her torso also has a slope, which leads her head and gaze to be directed downwards and to the left (toward the viewer). Regarding the technique, it could be assumed that the references in this particular engraving lead to the impressionist artistic tendencies, mainly in terms of the more direct and rapid rendering of the photo-shadings. We also discern an influence from both Renoir’s female figures and Galani’s characteristic sagins.
