Biography

Dimitrios Nikolaos Roggitis was born on February 1st 1999 in Patras and he was raised in a small town called Andravida. He developed an intense interest in painting since an early age. Inspired by the rural environment in which he lived, his very first paintings mainly depict landscapes of the countryside. The success he achieved just at the age of 17 in a European painting contest organized by the European Athletics Federation, inspired him to become more actively involved with art. In August 2018 he drew the attention of the European media after he shared his latest, at that time, artwork depicting the national tragedy on Mati. He exhibited his artworks in September of the same year at the cultural center of Andravida. Since then he has participated in various group exhibitions. Having visited various museums he came in contact with the creations of impressionism, expressionism and symbolism, as well as modern artistic flows, ending up really affected. Additionally he’s involved with poetry, animal rights activism and he is a undergraduate student at the university of Piraeus.
