The painter Olga Marmaridou-Anastasiadou was born and raised in Thessaloniki, where she still lives and works.
She studied painting at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Zurich (1973–1978). During her studies, she was particularly drawn to the nude form, watercolor, and hagiography (iconography). Upon returning to Greece in 1979, she collaborated with the Goulandris Natural History Museum, creating a series of posters titled “Birds of Our Land,” and illustrated the textbook “Plants and Animals of Our Homeland” for the 4th Grade of Elementary School for the School Book Publishing Organisation (OEDB, 1979). Her creative work extends to designing posters for international conferences, book illustration, and the artistic decoration of public spaces.She presented her work in solo exhibitions at the “Zygos” Gallery in Athens (1979, 1980 under the title “Birds of Our Land”), in Thessaloniki (“Kochlias” Gallery 1982, “Panselinos” 1985, British Council 1987 and 1992, French Institute 1995), Zurich, Heraklion, Luxembourg in 1994 (on the occasion of the conclusion of the Greek Presidency of the European Union), Syros, Tinos, and elsewhere. She has also participated in group exhibitions (Athens, Thessaloniki, Verona, Paris, Brussels, Lisbon, etc.).Since 1988, she has been a member of the Brussels-based “Institut Européen d’Aquarelle” (European Watercolor Institute). Her works are held in private collections in Greece and abroad.
