Anastasiadis Phaedon (1970 – 2001)

Biography

Phaedon Anastasiadis was born in 1970 in Athens and passed away at the age of 31 (2001) in the same city. He completed his secondary education in Athens, specializing in Applied Arts (1987). He continued his studies at the Department of Visual Communication and Advertising in Vakalo College in Athens (1987-1990), as well as at Harrow College of London (Polytechnic of Central London, 1990-1991). Subsequently, he studied at the Department of Visual Communication and Illustration at Wolverhampton University in England (1991-1994), from where he received his Bachelor’s degree. During this period (1993), he also studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten) in Ghent, Belgium, as part of the Erasmus program.
He worked as an illustrator at Artoon (1997-1998) and collaborated with Mediascriptum Graphic and Illustrative Applications (2000-2001).
In 2004, he was posthumously awarded an honorary Master of Arts in Art & Design by the University of Wolverhampton.
Posthumous exhibitions of his work were organized; solo ones in Athens, Chios, Rhodes, Messolonghi, Spetses, and Ermoupoli, and group ones took place in Athens, Agrinio, Arta, Nicosia, Moscow, and the Czech Republic. In 2004 (10/02-4/03), the Teloglion Foundation hosted the temporary exhibition ‘Encounters: Elective Affinities with the Art of Phaedon Anastasiadis,’ a dialogue between 42 works by Phaedon Anastasiadis and 42 creations by contemporary visual artists.
