Frantziskakis Errikos (1908 – 1958)

Biography

The painter Enrikos Frantziskakis was born in Chania in 1908 and passed away in Athens in 1958.
He studied painting at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Rome (1927–1931) and in Paris (1931–1933).
Upon his return to Greece, he studied Byzantine art.
Alongside P. Spanoudis, he published the newspaper ‘Techni’ (1938) and released several related books between 1940 and 1946.
In 1948, he was appointed professor of art subjects at the “Hellenic School” (Elliniko Ekpaideftirio) of Eleftheriadis and I. M. Panagiotopoulos.
As a prominent figure of the “Stathmi” group and a member of the “Techni” group, he presented his work in their exhibitions, as well as in group shows in Greece and abroad.
His painting is dominated by still lifes featuring warm, earthy colors reminiscent of similar approaches by the French Impressionists and Cézanne.
