Flessas Nikitas (1936)

Biography

The painter Nikitas Flessas was born in Thouria, Messenia, in 1936.
He lives and works in Athens.
He took painting lessons from the painter Giorgos Manousakis.
In his early works, he primarily used oil and tempera, showing a preference for figurative painting. From 1976–1977, he turned to egg tempera, creating a new visual language characterized by a clear undermining of realism and stylistic deviations. His work is distinguished by a unique use of color that is in constant evolution and transformation. His paintings reflect his profound view of art, which becomes a space for multiple readings of the world and free personal interpretation.
Starting with his first solo exhibition in Heraklion (1969), he has held many solo exhibitions (in Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, and London), as well as group ones.
