Vasilopoulou Eleni (1951)
Biography
The painter Eleni Vassilopoulou was born in Athens in 1951.
She has been painting since 1969, having studied under Theodoros Pantos.
She has created numerous commissioned portraits and, since her retirement, has devoted herself systematically to painting.
In 1975, along with the ‘Syn’ Group (Omada tou Syn), she co-founded their own space at 17 Tositsa Street in Athens. She participates actively in all the group’s activities, which hosted a retrospective of her work in 1990, as well as solo exhibitions in 2016 (with all proceeds donated to Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders), 2017, and 2021. Additional solo exhibitions were held in 2015, 2016 (in Thissio), and 2022 (at the Teloglion Foundation).
She is also professionally involved in the antique art trade; holding an antiquarian license, she collaborated with the Ministry of Culture for decades.
She is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece and participates in its group exhibitions.
Her works can be found in many private collections in Greece and abroad, as well as in the Teloglion Foundation and the National Bank of Greece.
