Katerina Chalepa-Katsatou was a prominent Greek sculptor and a member of a distinguished family of artists.
Born in Athens, she was the daughter of Vasileios Chalepas and Eirini (née Iakovos Kouvaras), and represented the third generation of the Chalepas family in the field of sculpture, as she was the grandniece of Yannoulis Chalepas and the great-granddaughter of Ioannis Chalepas.
Chalepa-Katsatou studied drawing at the private studio of the painter Loukas Geralis and later pursued studies in sculpture at the Athens School of Fine Arts under the guidance of Michalis Tombros. She also received training in marble carving with the sculptor Georgios Mataragas.
In addition to sculpture, she was also involved in medal-making and painting. She maintained a particularly close relationship with her uncle, Chalepas Yannoulis, to whom she devoted a significant part of her work through the preservation and care of the family archive.
