Sperantzas Vassilis (1938)

Biography

The painter and printmaker Vassilis Sperantzas was born in Athens in 1938.
He studied painting and printmaking at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris (1956-1969) and copper engraving at various art academies in London.
He taught lithography techniques as a lecturer at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1976 until 1988, when he returned to Greece to settle permanently.
He presented his work in numerous solo, group, and international painting and printmaking exhibitions in Greece and abroad.
Central to his work is the coupling of a naive perspective with surrealist and cubist elements.
His works are held in museums and private collections.
