Geralis Loukas (1875 – 1958)

Biography

He was born in Gerakari, Mytilene, in 1875 and died in Athens in 1958. He was the brother of the painter Apostolos Geralis.
He began painting lessons in Smyrna under the painter Th. Antoniadis, before continuing in 1896 at the School of Arts, where he studied under Georgios Roilos, Georgios Iakovidis, and Nikiforos Lytras.
He illustrated several books, most notably providing the drawings for the first issue of the literary magazine Noumas.
His work was presented in solo and group exhibitions both in Greece and abroad. He participated in the Panhellenic exhibitions of the Association of Greek Artists, of which he was a member, the Rome International Exhibition in 1911, and the Venice Biennale in 1934.
