The painter, sculptor, and set designer Kostis Georgiou was born in Thessaloniki in 1956. He lives and works in Athens.
He studied painting and sculpture at the Athens School of Fine Arts under Dimitris Mytaras and Dimosthenis Kokkinidis (1982–1986), as well as at the Royal College of Art in London under Professor Peter de Francia (1985–1986).
He served as a professor of painting and set design at the L. Stavrakos School of Cinema and Television (1988–1990).
He also worked as a set designer for the theater and for the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) between 1982 and 1988.
He has held numerous solo exhibitions in Thessaloniki, Athens, Limassol, Ghent, London, Tokyo, Geneva, Lausanne, Vienna, Malaga, Frankfurt, New York, Chicago, Montreal, and Shanghai, among others, and has participated in a multitude of group exhibitions in Greece and abroad.
He has received several international awards and distinctions, including 1st Prize at the XX Premio di Sulmona in Italy, a special prize at the Osaka Triennale 1993 and at the Young European Artists competition in Brussels (1992), and a special dinstinction in Young European Artists competition in Brussels (1990).
