Lazaridis Anatolis (1916 – 1989)

Biography

The painter, sculptor, and engraver Anatolis Lazaridis was born in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1916 and passed away in Athens in 1989.
He studied sculpture at the Athens School of Fine Arts, graduating with the school’s grand prize, while simultaneously studying philology at the University of Athens.
From 1945 to 1950, he worked in Egypt, where he created numerous sculptural works. In 1950, he moved to Athens, where he continued to work across multiple fields: sculpture, painting, engraving, medal making, and graphic arts. His busts, war memorials, and funerary monuments have been erected in various regions of Greece (Evrytania, Athens, Kasos, Epirus).
He participated in international, panhellenic, group, and solo exhibitions.
He was also involved in poetry, literature, and literary and art criticism for newspapers and magazines in Egypt and Greece.
He was a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece, the International Art Medal Federation (FIDEM), and a representative of Greece to the International Federation of Photographic Art.
