Biography
The painter Giorgos Lazongas was born in Larissa in 1945 and passed away in 2022.
He studied Architecture at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1963–1970) under the painter Christos Lefakis, and later studied painting at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris (1976). During his time in Paris, he met Alexander Iolas and was influenced by contemporary artistic movements.

In his work, he sought archetypes from past civilizations, primarily Ancient Greece. From 1980 onwards, the human body became a central point of reference in his work.
He held numerous solo exhibitions in Thessaloniki, Larissa, Paris, Athens, Cyprus, Poland, and Egypt, and participated in a multitude of group exhibitions in Greece, Paris, Lisbon, Vienna, Lausanne, Antwerp, Rome, Madrid, Korea, Beijing, Brazil, and the USA.
