Maroulis was born in Athens Greece and was educated in Germany and Italy. As a child he was interested in drawing and cardboard construction. After receiving a degree in Architecture, he worked as an architect in Rome. He also designed the sets for numerous Italian and French films.
In 1955 Maroulis moved to Paris where he opened an architectural office which worked successfully almost 18 years when Maroulis was guided by an “inner force” to paint.
In 1972 he began his career as an artist and moved to New York city where he now permanently resides. His works have been exhibited in the USA and in Greece.
