Skiadaresi Zoi (1934 – 2014)

Biography

She was born in Kalamata in 1934 and died in Athens in 2014.
She studied painting as a scholarship recipient at the Athens School of Fine Arts under Yannis Moralis and Spyros Papaloukas (1953-1958), while also apprenticing for about eight years with George Vakalo.
She taught freehand drawing at the Vakalo School (1969-1975) and painting at the art workshops of the YMCA (ΧΕΝ) in Athens (1980-1986).
In the 1960s, she was the first person to engage with animation in Greece. She studied Greek Art extensively (ancient, Byzantine, modern, and especially folk art).
She held solo exhibitions in Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Eretria, and Patmos. She also participated in group exhibitions in Greece (Panhellenic exhibitions from 1970 onwards) and abroad. In 1975, she received an honorable mention for a portrait at an International Exhibition of women artists in Meersburg, Germany.
She was a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece and the Board of the International Federation of Women’s Education, participating in its exhibitions.
She was the wife of photographer Makis Skiadaresis.
Her works are included in major public and private collections, such as the National Gallery, the Vorres Museum, the Municipal Art Gallery of Thessaloniki, and the Teloglion Foundation.
