Konstantinos Trakidis (1921 – 2011)

Biography

The self-taught painter Konstantinos Trakidis was born in Varna, Eastern Rumelia, in 1921 and passed away in Thessaloniki in 2011. In 1939, he settled in Thessaloniki with his family.
He was introduced to painting during his studies at the French schools of Varna and Philippopolis (Plovdiv), which inspired his decision to pursue the craft. In 1961, he apprenticed under the painter Kostas Loustas in Thessaloniki. He began working in his own studio in 1964 and devoted himself entirely to painting from 1971 onwards.
He held solo exhibitions in Thessaloniki at ‘Kochlias’ (1976 and 1981) and the Macedonian Art Society ‘Techni’ (1991). He also participated in group exhibitions organized by the Hellenic Artistic Exchanges Association (Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris, 1973—bronze medal; Amiens, 1978; various Greek cities and Cairo, 1978; Grand Palais Museum in Paris, 1982). Furthermore, he exhibited with the Association of Visual Artists of Northern Greece (SKETBE), of which he was a founding member in 1983, the ‘Diagonios’ Small Gallery by Dinos Christianopoulos (29 group exhibitions between 1974–1978, 1985, and 1989), and the Macedonian Art Society ‘Techni’ (3 group exhibitions between 1990–1991 and 2002).
