Μαρία Κομπατσιάρη (1952)
Biography
Maria Kompatsiari was born in Kolindros, Pieria, in 1952 and lives and works in Thessaloniki.
She graduated from the School of Pharmacy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and from the School of Visual and Applied Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
She has been active in painting since 1980.
She attended drawing and color classes at a preparatory studio in Thessaloniki under Savvas Poursanidis, as well as printmaking classes at the Neapolis Printmaking Center with Ruud Matthes and lithography with Erika Gudensrajer, while also continuing with independent studies in various painters’ studios.
She has presented her work in 38 solo exhibitions in Thessaloniki, Athens, Serres, Naupactus, Ioannina, Mykonos, and abroad (Ravenna, Cosenza, Rome, Lima), as well as in over 100 group exhibitions in Greece, Romania, Germany, Italy, France, Syria, Brazil, Mexico, and Japan.
She has received numerous distinctions for her work both in Greece and internationally.
Her pieces are held in private and public collections.
She is a member, among others, of the SKETBE (Association of Visual Artists of Northern Greece), the ETEE (Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece), the Greek Printmakers’ Association, and the International Art Council (Kokusai Bijyutsu Shingikai, Japan).
