The folk painter Barbakostas was born at the beginning of the 20th century and lived in Athens. His son was the art dealer, self-taught painter, and woodcarver Manos Zacharakis. Father and son participated in the group exhibition of twelve folk painters in August 1966 at the ‘Astor’ Gallery in Athens, which was curated by Kitsos Makris.
