Biography

Edouard Sacaillan was born in Thessaloniki in 1957. He lives and works in Athens and Paris.
He is the husband of the painter Anna Maria Tsakali.
He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts in the studios of D. Mytaras and Y. Moralis (1976–1981). Between 1984 and 1987, he studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris (studio of Leonardo Cremonini) on a three-year Spyridon Vikatos scholarship from the Athens School of Fine Arts.
He has received several awards and distinctions for his work (Painting Prize at the 18th Alexandria Biennale, 1984; The Trophies of Colour – the Lefranc-Bourgeois National Award for Painting, Lefranc-Bourgeois, Cirque d’Hiver, Paris, 1992; Prix de l’Académie de Médecine de France, 1987).
Sacaillan has held numerous solo exhibitions in Athens, Thessaloniki (including at the Teloglion Foundation in 2022), Karditsa, Heraklion, Corfu, Ioannina, Nicosia, Vienna, and Paris. He has also participated in many group exhibitions in Greece and abroad (Istanbul, London, Paris, Vienna, Rome, Turin, Dubai).
He is represented by Kalfayan Galleries in Athens and Thessaloniki. His works are included in public and private collections in Greece and abroad.
