Dika-Korneti Penny (1945)
Biography
The graphic designer and painter Penny Dika-Korneti was born in Katerini in 1945.
She studied graphic arts at the Athens Technological Institute (ATI-Doxiadis School) under A. Tassos, with professors P. Gravalos, I. Dekoulakos, and G. Georgiadis. She completed postgraduate studies at the Textile Workshop with Ingrid Pohler at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich.
She taught graphic design (lithography and typography) at the “Euclides” Technical School in Thessaloniki and at the Doxiadis School in Athens.
Since 1968, she has been working as a graphic designer, and since 1974, she has been active in painting. She has designed the catalogs of the Association of Visual Artists of Northern Greece, the posters and event programs for the Macedonian Artistic Society “Techni,” as well as the programs for the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra.
She has held 19 solo exhibitions in Athens, Thessaloniki, Kilkis, Larissa, Hungary, and London. She has also participated in 73 group exhibitions in Greece (Thessaloniki, Athens, Kavala, Porto Carras, Larissa, Volos, Ioannina, etc.) and abroad (Cyprus, Serbia, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Hungary, USA).
She is a member of the Association of Visual Artists of Northern Greece and the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece, and she has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Macedonian Art Society “Techni.”
She has received commendations and awards in competitions for posters, jewelry, textile design, and more. In 2009 she won Best Video Art prize for her movie “Blue-read metamorphosis” in the 11th International Film Festival of Patras.
