He was born in Kütahya, Asia Minor—renowned for its glazed ceramics and the most important pottery center of the Ottoman Empire—in 1877, and died in Thessaloniki in 1954.
He was a self-taught stonemason and ceramist. He maintained one of the seven most important workshops in Kütahya until 1922, when he emigrated to Thessaloniki and later to Athens. From 1923 to 1925, he worked as a master craftsman at the ‘Kioutahia’ ceramics factory of Minas Pesmazoglou in Neo Faliro. He then moved to Florina, where he earned a living through decorative ceramics. In 1926, he settled in Thessaloniki and established his own pottery workshop. He participated in the Thessaloniki International Fair in 1927 and 1928 (in collaboration with the potter Makarios Vardaxis). During the 1930s, he worked at the Allatini brickworks. In 1950, he decorated the frieze of the great hall of the Society for Macedonian Studies in Thessaloniki, where a retrospective exhibition was organized in 1956, two years after his death.
