Painter Charikleia Mytara was born in Piraeus in 1935.
She studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts under Y. Moralis and S. Papaloukas. In Paris, she studied textile design and weaving at the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, as well as interior architecture at the École des Métiers d’Art (1961-1964). She also studied for a year at the Karolos Koun Drama School, an experience that deeply influenced both her and her work.
She taught at the Vakalo School, the Athens School of Fine Arts, and other institutions. In 1978, along with her husband Dimitris Mytaras and in collaboration with the Municipality of Chalcis, she founded the Art Workshop in Chalcis, which received an honorable mention from the Academy of Athens in 1994.
She has presented her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. Her works can be found in the National Gallery, the Vorres Museum, and other collections.
