The painter and engraver Tzeni Markaki was born in Athens in 1939.
She studied printmaking (1961–1965) and artistic typography (1964–1966 with honors) at the Athens School of Fine Arts on a state scholarship, under Kostas Grammatopoulos.
She taught art courses for 29 years at the Arsakeio School of Athens. She illustrated books and designed posters, publications, and book covers.
She held six solo exhibitions in Athens and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Greece (Panhellenic Exhibitions 1963, 1965, 1967, 1969, 1975, 1987) and abroad (Cyprus, Poland, Romania, Portugal, etc.).
Her works are included in the collections of the Ministry of Culture, the Municipal Galleries of Athens, Rhodes, Corfu, and Heraklion, the Cultural Center of Agia Paraskevi, the Prefecture of Arcadia, as well as private collections in Greece, England, the USA, and Italy.
She is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece, the Association of Greek Printmakers, the International Federation of University Women (IFUW), and the Alumni Association of the Athens School of Fine Arts, as well as a founding member of the Association of Secondary Education Art Teachers.
