The self-taught painter and writer Nikos Papaspyrou was born in 1941 in Thessaloniki, where he also passed away in 2013.
He was the brother of Dinos Papaspyrou, who was likewise a painter and writer.
He worked as a pharmacy clerk from 1957 to 1977.
He began painting landscapes and portraits in oil using a naïve pointillist style in 1967. Between 1977 and 1990, due to health issues, he shifted to painting with markers, creating inventive and detailed geometric compositions with floral motifs and human figures. From 1991 onward, he returned to oil paints and pointillism.
He published short stories, and his texts were featured in the literary journal Parafiada (1985, 1986, 1987).
His work was presented in solo and group exhibitions in Thessaloniki. He participated in several exhibitions at the Little Art Gallery”Diagonios” of Dinos Christianopoulos, where he held a solo exhibition in 1980 and took part in 31 group exhibitions between 1977–1983 and 1985–1987.
